W-L-Q measurement
The amplitude of the vocal folds play an important role in evaluating functional voice disorders. When deciding whether the amplitude is normal, too great or too small, the physician takes into account the length of the glottis. The width-length ratio of the glottis provides the correct standard for evaluating the amplitude of the vocal folds. We have developed a function which can be used to generate automatically this measurement on a graphic interface.

Examinations of the voice play an important role in phoniatric diagnostics. For the most part, the sound of the voice is still evaluated auditorily today. Consequently, different examiners often come up with varying evaluations, even though based on quite a rough scale. Automatic procedures, on the other hand, provide objective, reproducible results on a continuous scale. Our special application for examinations based on the Göttingen hoarseness diagram is especially suitable for use as progress checks and documentation of voice rehabilitation programmes.
